In early October of 1986, the Ushiromiyas yearly family conference takes place on their private island of Rokkenjima. On the island, however, lies a legend about a Witch who lurks in the night, who is also supposedly the family heads dead paramour which he's trying to revive. This is further elaborated when the cousins of the family stumble upon an epithet under the Witchs portrait. On the epithet is written about the need for the deaths and sacrifices of the Ushiromiya family members, in order for the Witch to be revived. And the only way to stop that, is for someone to solve the riddle on the epithet, and in return, find the location of the family head's 10 tons of gold, and to inherit the title of the family head themselves.
