Neues Leben in alten Mauern (New life inside old walls)

After the Transylvanian Saxons left Romania for Germany at the beginning of the 1990s, the vast majority of their fortified churches, mostly in the rural areas where abandoned. After three decades now, most of them are in a bad state or even fell apart. The Lutheran Church in Transylvania tries to renovate as much churches as possible, using European funding. There are also other enthusiasts that try to save the remains of the huge Saxon legacy in Transylvania.
